DP&C® SMARTFLEET Case Study: Finkle Trucking
NJ-based Finkle Trucking provides comprehensive contract and for-hire full truckload services in states east of the Mississippi River. It has been in business for more than 50 years and today operates with more than 300 drivers and power units. The company has satellite operations in New England, the Midwest and Southeast.
Recently, Finkle Trucking found itself in an increasingly competitive environment. With operating costs rising and competitors eroding market share, Finkle management needed to successfully address shrinking operating margins, increased administrative burdens, and the need to enhance visibility of information to support better and faster business decisions.
Clifford Finkle IV, CEO of Finkle Trucking, engaged DP&C® Enterprises to implement the DP&C® SMARTFLEET Suite to enhance visibility of real-time information across Finkle's entire enterprise, including administration, operations, dispatch and back office integration.
Some of the issues addressed as part of the implementation included:

- » Increasing the timeliness and accuracy of administrative functions, including payroll, driver and equipment information, and customer profiles by replacing forms and other paper-based systems with electronic documentation
- » The ability to measure actual performance versus scheduled plan
- » The ability to more easily manage and account for exceptions
- » Improved asset utilization
- » Measuring driver payroll versus hours earned
- » Measurement of overall business effectiveness to support more timely and informed business decisions
- » A platform that is scalable for future growth
- » An efficient and user-friendly dispatch solution to manage standard routes, exceptions and for-hire activity
"DP&C® SMARTFLEET, coupled with GPS technology, has provided our organization with both tactical and strategic benefits that are contributing to growth in our bottom line," said Clifford Finkle.
